Communications Assistant

Duties:

  • Interview and create profiles of clients and volunteers and/or WHH events and milestones.
  • Generate human interest stories and informative articles for newsletter, blog, website and print usage.
  • Analyze outcomes and strategize effective long term methods for reaching out via publications and communication vehicles of all types.

Hours:
This volunteer position requires a minimum of five to ten hours per week. We ask for a minimum six month commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to WHH’s mission.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Storytelling skills required.
  • Ability to take initiative, work well independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Applicants with journalism experience encouraged to apply.

 

Grant Writer

Duties:

  • Draft, edit, and write grant proposals.
  • Work closely with WHH staff in developing grant proposals.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of particular areas involved in identifying and soliciting grants.
  • Assist with identifying potential grant opportunities.

Hours:
This volunteer position requires an average of five to ten hours per week. We ask for a minimum one year commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to WHH’s mission.
  • Strong grant writing experience and proven grant contract success track record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Ability to listen and develop information into grant proposals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accurate records.

 

Public Relations

Duties:

  • Strategize, implement, and analyze brand building techniques.
  • Design and implement a promotion campaign for the WHH’s pilot programs.
  • Identify relevant media outlets and ensure WHH is represented through them.
  • Assist with media outreach by writing articles and press releases.
  • Assist with any other public relations matters as needed.
  • Plan and direct public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image.
  • Create company literature and other forms of communication.
  • Create marketing and promotional materials, both print and electronic.
  • Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications.
  • Design and launch email marketing campaigns.
  • Create and deliver press releases, media relations content, case studies, white papers, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, social media content, and speaking proposals.
  • Identify, develop and execute communications strategy for key media contacts and customer references.
  • Research media coverage and industry trends.
  • Develop fresh story ideas.
  • Help to clarify the organization’s point of view to their main constituency.

Hours:
This volunteer position requires an average of five to ten hours per month. We ask for a minimum of six month commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to WHH’s mission.
  • Strong writing, editing, communications and media relations skill set.
  • Experience with online marketing.
  • Prior marketing/public relations experience or degree preferred.

 

Community Outreach

Duties:

  • Initiate contact with businesses and employers.
  • Attend training on sex trafficking.
  • Educate employers about the harms and risks of sex trafficking and buying.
  • Invite employers to prevent sex trafficking and buying within their operations through recommended best practices.
  • Exhibit professionalism when directly engaging with the public.

Hours:
This volunteer position requires an average of five to twenty hours per month. We ask for a minimum one year commitment.

  • Is friendly, trustworthy, and professional manner.
  • Comfortable interacting with strangers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
